Our Favorite ReadsThis is a featured page

This is where we can give a review of our favorite photography books. It can be any type of book as long as it's photo related. We all know that the top one for each of us is the INSTRUCTION MANUAL that came with your camera, but if there are any others you'd like to talk about please do so here. ***This is strictly a matter of personal opinion intended to be shared with others in our club.***

I've added a quick link to each of these books. It will take you directly to Amazon.com if you'd like to purchase them or read more about them. I have found (and purchased) all of them at Barnes & Noble.

book cover Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson has got to be one that I have actually read over and over. It teaches, in plain simple language, how to understand all the settings you need to put together so you can shoot manually and get out of the auto mode. I give this one a FIVE STAR rating. Pam

Our Favorite Reads - O'Fallon Photo ClubAnother photoghrapher, who is a great writer, is Scott Kelby. I have two of his books on digital photography "The Digital Photography Book" and "The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2". In both of these books he shows a photo and explains how to do that specific technique on a single page. All sections end with "like a pro". Not only are theses books good reading (he has a great sense of humor!) they are good reference guides. I give them both a FIVE STAR rating. Pam

Our Favorite Reads - O'Fallon Photo ClubSince I liked his photography books, I googled him to see what else he was up to. He hosts a weekly web show, Photoshopuser TV, with two other photographers that teach you how to do different things in Photoshop. A new show comes on every Monday and are worth watching. Go check out the many books he has written on photoshop. I have Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers. Pretty insightful, especially for those who are self-taught in photoshop. Pam

Our Favorite Reads - O'Fallon Photo ClubThis book is something I just like to browse through periodically. It's full of ideas and really gets me in the mood to go out and shoot creatively. Another good one, in my opinion. Pam

After looking at Pam's books at our last meeting,I purchased both Digital Photography and Digital Photograhy book 2 by Scott Kelby. They are wonderful!! If you are a seasoned professional you may not find them as useful, but they are packed full of information for the rest of us. What I liike is that he tells you step by step exactly what to do without too much of the technical jargon that can be confusing. He also has recommendations on purchasing equipment for the "budget minded" as well as the "lottery winner". Pam was right when she said that each page is like a recipe of how to do things. I purchased mine online from Amazon since I fall inot the "buget minded" category.
